2010 Barolo Abbona
£36.00

Made from grapes cultivated in Monforte d’Alba, this Barolo has a wonderful elegance to its bouquet, good strength, and excellent alcohol. The typical red garnet color is enriched by light orange shades, the nose is rich, complex and fruity. In the mouth, however, a beautiful and compelling conflict between power and drinkability is played to the palate’s delight. Significant is the persistent finish and the very soft tannin.

We make traditional wines, and we’re not afraid to say so. We’re proud of our identity. Every wine that knows how to inspire must also know how to tell its story, its own history.

The strength of tradition and the taste for innovation. The knowledge of our roots and the courage to take a new road. The passion of artisan work and the search for quality without compromise. For three generations, the Abbona cellars have made great wines of the Langhe, striving to express the most important emotions: love for our work, and gratitude that we live in one of the most extraordinary wine territories in the world.

We never made wine in order to receive good reviews, but to express the best that our land can give. It was a choice that rewarded us, over time.   Chiara Abbona

Pairing Suggestions: This wine finds its match with meat and game dishes, like the brasato al Barolo (braised beef with Barolo), venison and wild boar. Otherwise it can be tasted with dishes enriched with white truffle, like the cardoon flan with fondue and duck ravioli.

Maturation: In barrels of 25 hectoliters for 30 months. Assemblage and bottling without filtering is done in December. Rests in the bottle at a constant temperature of 14° C (52° F) for two months before release.
