Dark ruby, purple reflections, discreet brightening on the rim. A hint of dark chocolate, a whiff of After Eight, very fine noble wood nuances. Juicy, elegant, dark berry fruit, a touch of coconut, delicate Earl Grey. Juicy, elegant, engaging fruit expression, fine acidity framework, long, still youthful and offers a lot already, there is more to come in any case.

Marques de Murrieta - Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva Especial 2007 is a complex and elegant classic.
Only the finest vintages from the Ygay Estate are used to make Castillo Ygay.
Castillo Ygay is always made from the best grapes sourced from La Plana, a 40-hectare (98-acre) vineyard, planted in 1950 and located at 485 meters above sea level, in the highest area of Ygay State, our 300-hectare estate in Rioja Alta.
This Gran Reserva Especial is made from Tempranillo and Mazuelo from vineyards located at 500 meters above sea level. Limited in production and sought after all over the world, it is the worthy choice for our emblematic Castillo Ygay label.
A benchmark in the DO Rioja with an unquestionable recognition worldwide. It represents the consistency of a project started in 1852 and masterfully maintained. Part of its greatness resides on the fact that it is only made in selected vintages. Castillo Ygay has developed a great complexity over the years without losing its exceptional freshness and demonstrating its superb quality and marked elegance.
Pairing Suggestions: Lamb, Venison and Mushroom dishes. Iberico Ham and cured cheeses.
Maturation: 28 months in 225-litre oak barrels. We use French oak for Mazuelo and American for Tempranillo. The first 10 months in new barrels. Before bottling and just after the final blending, the wine settles in concrete vessels. The wine spends at least 3 years in bottle before release
