Poggio alle Nane 2020 is an intense ruby red color. The nose presents aromas of ripe dark fruit, black currants and plums accompanied by spicy and balsamic notes of licorice, coffee and sweet paprika. Its bouquet is completed by delicate hints of Mediterranean herbs and lavender. A rich and enveloping palate is mouth filling with elegant tannins. The finish is long and harmonious defined by undertones of tobacco and blueberry chocolate.
94 POINTS FALSTAFF
Born from the union of the best Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and a small amount of Carménère grapes with the unique terroir of the Poggio alle Nane vineyards, one of the most suitable areas of the company and capable of producing grapes of extraordinary quality. A wine with great aromatic complexity and an elegant dense tannic texture.
Poggio alle Nane takes its name from the area where the vineyards are located: an area where ducks locally called "nane" were originally raised, extending from the hill to the lake which still exists today. Poggio alle Nane comes from an area highly suited to the production of quality wines, an area in which Cabernet as well as Carménère can express themselves at their best.
Fattoria Le Mortelle is located in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, a few kilometers from Castiglione della Pescaia, in an extraordinary and fascinating position both for the nature and for the history of the places that surround it. The Antinori family has always been present in these lands. In 1863, a patrimonial deed mentions among the possessions Poggio Franco, one of the most suitable vineyards of the estate, together with other parcels of land. Since 1999 the family has worked both on the vineyards and on the new cellar with the conviction that the area, still emerging in the Italian wine scene, is highly suited to the production of quality wines and that here the characteristics of the terroir and the varieties grown can best express themselves. The farm extends over 270 hectares of which 175 are planted with vineyards with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, in addition to more recent plantings of white grape varieties such as Vermentino, Ansonica and Viognier, and a small quota of Carménère. The soil, of medium texture, sandy and silty, has a predominantly siliceous-clayey composition and is, in certain areas, rich in skeleton.
