2019 Poggioargentiera Cabernet Franc "Poggioraso"
Poggioraso is a Cabernet Franc wine known for its strong varietal character, showcasing dominant primary aromas of red fruit and a hint of pepper. With age, it develops tertiary notes of undergrowth. The vineyards are located in the Baccinello area, characterized by alluvial pebbles and calcareous clay, while the Alberese vineyards consist mainly of sandy and silty soils. Poggio Argentiera was established in 1997 with the purchase of the Adua farm, which dates back to the early 20th century. Initially, the 15 acres of vineyards produced grapes for Morellino di Scansano, and the winery has since expanded to over 50 acres in this appellation. The Adua vineyard is close to the Natural Park of the Maremma, with sandy and loamy soils, while the Baccinello site features higher altitudes and stony soils that contribute to exceptional vineyard potential.
