2017 Tenuta San Leonardo "San Leonardo" 0,75 lt
The 2017 San Leonardo is bright, rich ruby red in colour. Floral aromas of lavender and geranium on the nose, followed by fresh cassis and elderberry, with a hint of liquorice and a fine spiciness of mint and sage in the background. Opens radiantly and with a juicy core on the palate, with clear fruit throughout accompanied by a fine hint of spice. It's still youthful, with hints of the texture to come on the finish. This wine has been given high praise by critics receiving 95 point from Wine Advocate, Decanter and Falstaff. San Leonardo’s owner Marchese Carlo Guerrieri Gonzaga, a rare example (at the time) of a professionally-trained aristocrat-oenologist, spent time at Tenuta San Guido back in the 1960s and subsequently employed the same legendary consultant, Giacomo Tachis, as Sassicaia for a time.
