2013 Draga Merlot Collio 1,5 lt Magnum (Wooden Box)
In the glass, the 2013 Merlot Collio 1.5 lt Magnum from Draga reveals a bright purple-red colour. This single-varietal Italian wine displays wonderfully complex notes of redcurrant jelly and raspberries in the glass. Added to this are hints of minerals. On the palate the wine opens wonderfully dry, firm and aromatic. On the tongue, this well-balanced red wine is characterised by an incredibly velvety, dense and silky texture. The finish of this red wine from the Friuli-Venezia Giulia wine-growing region ultimately convinces with a lovely aftertaste. The finish is also accompanied by mineral notes from the sandstone-dominated soils. The vineyard was established in the early 1900s by Ivan Miklus and his son Franz, who dedicated themselves to grape cultivation. In 1992, they began commercial wine production under the Draga label, and later, Milan Miklus and his wife Anna introduced wines under their family name. In 2006, they started producing wines with long maceration.
