2003 Castello della Paneretta Chianti Classico Riserva Torre a Destra 3L Jeroboam (Wooden Box)
The 2003 Castello della Paneretta Chianti Classico Riserva Torre a Destra is a medium-deep ruby. Wonderfully pure pomegranate and red cherry aromas complemented by delicate flint and tobacco nuances. Luscious red cherry, plum, grilled meat and a hint of sweet underbrush are framed by unbelievably suave tannins. Extremely long and fine, this is one of the stars of this difficult vintage. This wine was awarded the Tuscany Trophy at the International Wine Challenge in 2006 but has also gained 93 points from Stephen Tanzer and 90 points from Vinous and Wine Spectator. The Paneretta castle, located in the Chianti Classico area, has a rich history spanning 400 years and sits on the western slopes of the Elsa valley, overlooking San Gimignano. Originally built around an ancient sighting tower, it became an important fortress after the battle of Montaperti in 1260. Today, the estate covers 309 hectares, making it one of the largest farms in the region, although there are only 22 hectares of vineyard.
