2022 Prendina "Falcone" Cabernet Sauvignon 0,75 lt
£33.75

This wine is a faithful expressive example of Cabernet Sauvignon. The nose is dominated by notes of cola, graphite, leather and spices. Light to medium bodied, it reveals herbaceous notes on the palate, with lively acidity and firm tannins. The herbaceous notes are supported by a silky tannin and an excellent structure.

90 POINTS JAMES SUCKLING

The vineyards are located between 110 and 130 meters above sea level with a north-east exposure. Spurred cordon training system. Limestone moraine soil with the presence of gravel and sand.

Luciano’s passion for the wine world kept intensifying with his son Giulietto and led to the acquisition of Prendina in 1958, an estate in Monzambano. Giulietto, a failed surveyor and keen radioamateur, turned a passion into a manufacturing activity in the 70s. The achievement of the DOC in 1971 further reinforced the family activity and confirmed Custoza among the Italian quality wines. Also, Prendina gained more importance as the first wine labeled Prendina was bottled: a Merlot which became the wine of the house of Gualtiero Marchesi’s famous restaurant. Nonetheless, the winery remained a secondary activity as Giulietto primarily used it to entertain guests, visitors and stakeholders of the leather industry.

Pairing Suggestions: Excellent with meats and dishes that require wines with strength and structure.

Maturation: The process in the cellar which involves a traditional red vinification with long maceration and subsequent elevation in small barrels for a long period.
