The 2017 Marco Bonfante Bricco Bonfante Nizza Riserva in a 1.5-liter magnum presents a deep purple-red color with violet reflections. Its aroma features ripe cherry and plum, complemented by subtle wood notes. On the palate, it is impressively rich, showcasing exceptional fruit concentration and a long, pleasant finish with a gradual sweetness. The Bonfante family has been crafting wines in Nizza Monferrato, Piedmont, for eight generations, specializing in Barbera d'Asti, and their winery was established in 2000 by siblings Marco and Micaela Bonfante. Marco, a graduate of the Oenological School of Alba, oversees production with the help of a consulting oenologist and agronomist. The winery emphasizes elegance in its wines, focusing on balance among structure, acidity, and alcohol, while aging in wood enhances the wine's character without overpowering it. Key red grape varieties used include Nebbiolo, Barbera, Albarossa, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Brachetto.
