2022 Ronco del Gelso Malvasia "Vigna della Permuta"
The 2022 Ronco del Gelso Malvasia "Vigna della Permuta" thrives in the ideal climate and gravelly soils of the Isonzo plain, which are warm, dry, and close to the sea. This wine is fermented in steel, showcasing a characteristic salty acidity and a long body with a distinctive personality. Aromas of marine sensations, star anise, ripe fruit, and the typical spiciness of Isonzo wines are prominent. Our vineyards, located on a small plain formed by the tributaries of the Isonzo, benefit from poor, stony, dry soils that are perfect for high-quality viticulture. These conditions limit vine vigor and prevent excessive production. We employ vineyard strategies that respect the soil's unique nature, utilizing single-Guyot pruning and vertical-trellis training with high vine density to promote root competition. Careful selection of clones and rootstocks suited to our soils is prioritized during planting, and green cover is planted in alternating rows. The average yield per vine is around 1–1.5 kg, ensuring the quality of the grapes.
