The 2022 Ronco del Gelso Friulano "Toc Bas" is made from Friulano grapes grown in the lower Cormons area. This unique Italian wine has flavors of hazelnuts and bitter almonds, with a rich texture and light tannins reminiscent of liquorice. It features a beautiful greenish color and a slightly bitter yet refined aftertaste. Our vineyards, located on a small plain formed by the Isonzo tributaries, have poor, stony, and dry soils ideal for quality viticulture. We use vineyard practices that respect the soil, ensuring low fertility for optimal vine performance. The vines are single-Guyot pruned and vertically trellised with high density to encourage root competition. We select suitable clones and rootstocks, and plant green cover in alternating rows, achieving an average yield of 1–1.5 kg per vine for exceptional wines.
