The Traminer of the Ronco del Gelso winery has a straw yellow colour, the bouquet opens with fruity hints of tropical nature, has spicy aromas of cloves and nutmeg and floral notes of rose. On the palate it is persistent and decisive.
The Traminer comes from the vineyards of Cormons in the heart of the Collio, where the composition of the soil, the exposure and the temperature range are all very favourable elements of this excellent wine.
The grapes after the harvest undergo a brief withering in the fruit bowl and then be pressed into whole bunches, without undergoing any maceration. An excellent white that respects the typical characteristics of the variety, maximising the peculiarities of the terroir of origin.
Our vineyards are situated on the small plain created by the tributaries of the Isonzo, which extends from the hills of the Collio region towards the Adriatic Sea.
The poor, stony, dry soils are ideal for viticulture.
Indeed, poor soils are very important to limit the vigour of the vines and prevent excessive production.
Our vineyard strategies have always respected the distinctive nature of the soil, whose low fertility makes them perfect for high-quality viticulture.
Our vineyards are all single-Guyot pruned and vertical-trellis trained, with a high vine density to promote root competition and canopy restriction.
During planting, great attention is paid to the selection of clones and rootstocks, which must be suited to our soils. Green cover is planted in alternating rows.
The wines vary according to the grape varieties and average yields are around 1–1.5 kg per vine.
Pairing Suggestions: The Traminer of the Ronco del Gelso winery guarantees an excellent combination with particularly spicy dishes, from white meats and sushi of oriental cuisine, to fish and crustaceans.
Maturation: Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 19°C with selected yeasts, then the wine rests on its own lees for at least 12 months in steel tanks before being bottled.
