2016 Dal Forno Romano Amarone della Valpolicella "Monte Lodolette" 0,75lt.
£352.00

Dark, dense ruby red. On the nose, notes of cinnamon stick, ripe blackberries, dark chocolate, forest berries confit, oak, dried violets, very complex. Extremely polished on the palate, with a lovely viscosity, great texture, multi-layered, concentrated yet not overdone, finishing on notes of fine coconut, will age superbly, with an infinitely long life.

The Amarone wine “Monte Lodoletta” of the famous Romano Dal Forno winery is made with a blend of the grapes traditionally grown in this wonderful hilly area: Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara.

The wines of Romano Dal Forno are a reference point and a beacon for all of Valpolicella. The Amarone “Monte Lodoletta” by Romano Dal Forno represents not only one of the most important and prestigious labels of the Valpolicella territory, but also an excellence of absolute level in the widest panorama of the Italian wine world. It is not simply an excellent Amarone, it is a great red wine that conquers with elegance, complexity and aromatic depth. It is a splendid expression of the tradition of the territory, interpreted in the sign of a search for the best quality.

The very long period of ageing in barrique allows the wine to achieve a harmony and an expressive balance of extraordinary elegance and finesse. Amarone della Valpolicella 'Monte Lodoletta' is one of the flagship labels of Romano Dal Forno, which manages a 25-hectare estate in Val d'Illasi. The hilly area to the north-west of Verona has always been suitable for the cultivation of red grapes. The calcareous lands, the mild climate and influenced by the breezes of the nearby Lake Garda, constitute a perfect habitat for native vines: Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara. The winery is the result of the experience of four generations of winemakers and the decisive encounter with Giuseppe Quintarelli, another illustrious name of Valpolicella. From that moment on, Dal Forno's work has followed the path of the search for absolute quality, with an extraordinary commitment in the vineyard to try to obtain wines that are a perfect expression of the territory and its best customs.

Maturation: The grapes are placed in a fruit tree to wither for about 4 months, so that they lose water and concentrate the aromas and sugars. The wine matures for at least 60 months in barrique before being bottled.
