A red wine with no vintage, a tribute to tradition. For the winery, Unico Reserva Especial marks the continuation of a very old Spanish custom which balances out vintages.

Traditionally in Spain, the rare wineries which had a bottling process made two types of wine from each harvest: one from the current crop and a second wine without a set vintage, which went by the name "Reserva Especial" (special reserve).

Unico Reserva Especial 2016 is formed by the 1996, 1998 and 2002 vintages.

A blend of wines from the best harvests to produce the winery's most representative wine.

Pairing Suggestions: Gran Reserva 890 is our most special wine. Recommended with main courses with light sauces, meat stews with herbs and desserts with chocolate. It is ideal as an after-dinner drink.

Maturation: Part of their uniqueness is imparted in their vinification/ageing methods. Fermented and aged in wooden vats, Único is then transferred into new barrels of both American and French origin before being furthered aged in older (and predominantly American) oak barrels and then finished in 180 HL wooden vats before being bottled. The total ageing time is between 6 - 9 years in both wood and bottle. This requires a huge investment in both time, dedication and money.
