2019 Podere Don Cataldo Susumaniello
This wine has a brilliant violet red colour. The bouquet is lively intense filled with notes of juicy plum and ripe dark fruits aromas, finishing with heady oaky scent. It reveals a delicious vinous taste, typical of this emerging autochthonous grape variety. Rich and intense to the palate, this wine shows Apulia terroir at its best with its warm and mellow taste.
The story of Podere Don Cataldo is intertwined with the history of the Rocca family, just as the vine bundles bind to the tendrils, sinking its deep roots in Puglia, in the heart of Salento, a few kilometres from the Ionian coast.
In 1998, Ernesto Rocca, the third generation of the family, driven by the love for this land and for the art of viticulture, bought a farm in Leverano, in the province of Lecce. An expanse of over 100 hectares consisting of two twin farms: Vignali Grandi and Podere Don Cataldo. The entire collection is named after the latter. Today the passion for the art of wine has been handed down to the fifth generation: children and grandchildren with commitment and dedication lead the company to new goals.
