2012 Brigaldara Amarone della Valpolicella Case Vecie
£57.00

Deep ruby. Very ripe, almost roasted nose of dried cranberry, kirsch, brown spices, figs macerated in sugar syrup and botanical herbs. Then fresher and suave, with clean and precise flavours of cinnamon, pepper, tobacco and pot pourri. Finishes long with young, chewy but polished tannins.

In Case Vecie, with over 70 hectares, Brigaldara has set up a very strict action where men, plants and animals are all part of the same virtuous cycle: other than viticulture, forestry is practiced, and Brigaldara is responsible for the maintainance of dry-stone walls and fields, the management of the truffle ground and the reintroduction of sheep farming.

A thousand years of history, one hundred and twenty hectares of property - forty-seven of which are planted with vines - distributed in three different areas of Verona: Valpolicella Classica, Valpantena and Eastern Valpolicella. A historic family, the Cesari, that has owned the villa and the surrounding land since 1928, who is committed to the enhancement of a rich and heterogeneous property. A team of young winemakers and agronomistsdedicated to the study and customization of each intervention in the vineyard, to enhance the terroirs and microterroirs that make up the different souls of the wines that are here produced.

Pairing Suggestions:  Ideal with meat dishes, or with cured meats and with cheese.

Maturation: Aging 2 years in small wooden barrels and 2 years in large wooden barrels
